Tom Thumb Food Stores is was a family-owned and operated convenience store chain that has maintained a presence in South Florida for more than 50 years, with locations spanning from Fort Lauderdale to Key West.
In 2023, Tom Thumb Food Stores, Inc. was purchased by the Kent Companies, located in Midland, Texas.
Tom Thumb was founded in 1964 by Tom Smith and his son in law, Jim McCarthy, with a single store in Miami, Florida. With the success of this location, more locations were opened and the company now owns and operates 14 Tom Thumb locations.
In the 1970’s, Tom Thumb added petroleum to the long list of services available to consumers. In the mid-1990’s, Tom Thumb added Subway restaurants. We now operate 8 Subway restaurants – both in Tom Thumb locations and “free-standing” locations – throughout South Florida.
Tom Thumb is proud to offer our customers safe, clean locations to gas up and grab healthy snack options. Since 1964, we have been bringing convenience and friendly service to a neighborhood near you, and we look forward to expanding on this goal and serving customers throughout South Florida.
